Who’s ever heard of such a thing? Well, sign me up! I hope that lots of you will sign up, too. The summer C.A.M.P. was such a great time and I can’t wait to do it again.

There is much more then crafts happening at C.A.M.P. You can eat, watch a movie or just enjoy the laughter and fellowship of some marvelously delightful ladies of CNC. (C.A.M.P. stands for Crafts And Multiple projects.)

I am a crafter at heart and the idea of going to C.A.M.P. is wonderful to me. During the last C.A.M.P., I invited my dearest friend who isn’t into crafting at all, by the way. She needed some “girl time” and I really wanted to go to C.A.M.P. As it turns out, God provided us with so much more!

I learned how to crochet (the right way!) and got great inspiration for my son’s first birthday party! Do you know what? My friend went home with more stuff then I did and the most uplifted spirit! It was such a joy and a blessing. She made some things for her kids, something for herself, and even won a prize! She was in need of fellowship and fun, and that was what she walked away with. CNC is not my friend’s church home, but she certainly felt at home that night. I think she got on talking with some other ladies more then with me!

Ladies, I will be bringing my BIG box of beads, again. For those of you who want to craft but aren’t sure how or what to do. You are welcome to try it. We sure did get some giggles going as beads flew about! No professionals here.

As for me, this time I am making a cake platter. I will be starting at 4:00 p.m., but am glad to help anyone who wants to try it… at whatever time they arrive.
The platter consists of a painted piece of plywood (color and shape desired by “hostess” serving on said platter.)
* The wood should be painted before you come – or else your craft might consist of watching paint dry.
* You will also need four knobs, like the ones used for dressers. Again, this is all based on your own style. The knobs will be used as the “legs” of the platter.
* Fake flowers (small) and ribbons are the last details. You’ll want a solid ribbon the same width as the platter edge, and one a little smaller in lace or whatever design you like. A hot glue gun will also be needed.
* I will bring a drill and a hot glue gun for those who may need to borrow one.

Yes, December is a busy time of year. And we need time to complete our various projects.

Trying new recipes before the big party to ensure tastiness

Visiting with firends before all the holiday frenzy

20 Friends Had a Blast at Camp

20 ladies showed up.

Some were strangers, some were acquaintances and some were friends at the beginning of the night. By the end of the night ALL were friends.

We didn't let the kids have all the fun at camp this summer. We let loose and made up some of our own fun in our 8 hours of camp.

We had a FUN evening of . . . .

Crocheting

Winning beautifully decorated vases and candles from the raffle

The raffle brought in $44.55. The money went to modernize bathrooms and kitchens for field workers in Kurdistan.

Thanks to all the ladies who showed up. Also thanks to Michelle for helping me with this camp. It exceeded my expectations.

Cake Petstals

As some of you know I love cake pedestals, but having the creative mind that I have I started looking at other things to make my own unique cake pedestal. That's when I started to realize most people my age don't have them, so here are some fun ways to make your own. If you have a china set or a fun plate and cup you like you can make your own. Just turn the cup upside down put some duct tape on the bottom and place the plat on top. Another fun idea is using clear plastic goblets and plates. Raley's has them on sale right now. You can theme the cake pedestal by putting things in the goblet then putting the plate on top. I am bringing some of the ideas I have thought of to Camp night. Michelle

Ladies if you are making the shower caddies you need to go to the Lowes on Greenback. The Lowes in Rancho does not have the pails, and they have no clue what is posted on the Creative Ideas website. But I found every thing I needed around the paint department. I hope this is helpful. Michelle

Under Cooking I like . . .

The Rice Krispy treat birthday cake. Since my daughter doesn't do dairy, eggs or wheat this could be a great alternative for her.
The dog biscuits. They are made from ingredients I already have.
The zucchini recipes. There are 12 different ones! Unfortunately my zucchini plant is not prolific this year. I should have planted more than one. :-(

Under Craftiness I like . . .

The knit dishcloths. That reminds me, I need to dig out mine that's still on the needles to bring to C.A.M.P. I'm sure one of you ladies can show me how to finish it off.
The chocolate bar cozy. These would be great gifts at Valentine's Day. Hmmm. Maybe even for the next Women's Retreat? Go here for more color choices.
The knitted Christmas tree garland. This is so cute. Really you could use any color of fuzzy yarn. The dollar store usually has a bunch. I'm ready to start Christmas, so this is a must on my to-do list.

Sandra is Making Coffee Mug Charms At Craft Night Plus on Aug 8 from 4-12 p.m.

Coffee mug charms? Yep. They are like wine glass charms except for coffee mugs. Isn't this a cool idea? Sandra came up with it.

Wine glass charms are also called drink ID tags, stemware bracelets and wine glass markers.

Below are some ideas, directions, supply lists and photos. Have fun perusing, pick a project, buy the supplies, and come prepared to join Sandra and maybe even Lynette in making charms for your coffee mugs or stemware.

Go here (notmartha.org) for the supply list and directions. These are made on a hoop earring base.

Craftbits.com has directions using memory wire or jewelry wire.

Save-on-crafts.com has the cutest charms using multiple beads.

ChocolateAndZuchinni.com has directions also. Do take a look as these charms have a distinctly different look. This is especially good for those who don't like the little bead look.

BeadWork.About.Com has charms with initials. Cute for a wedding reception, graduation party (hint, hint) or even a posh shower.

Black-Purl-Magazine.Com has directions for crocheting wine charms. Who knew you could crochet with wire?

These shrinky dinky charms from LjcFyi.com are soooo cute! What about printing actual photos of people on the shrinky dink paper.
How about using electronic components? "It's an easy five-minute project with elegant results," says EvilMadScientist.Com.

Polyclay can be used to make veggie charms (or coffee beans). Go here (hgtv.com) for supplies, directions and photo.

ABigSlice.Com suggests using buttons, beads, watch parts, and old costume jewelry.

Copper disks can be etched into one of a kind markers. DIY.Com has the scoop on this.

Thujandin.com has put together a pdf with instructions and photos of 12 very different glass markers.

MiyCreations.Com uses thick photo paper for a charm that is novel. A slit is cut in the charm so that it can clip around the stem. Obviously this cute charm is not meant to be used multiple times.

BYOC Camp Invites All Ladies

Ladies, let's get camping - BYOC style: Bring Your Own Craft.

Some people are bringing supplies to share, like beads and scrapbook materials. Let me know if you want to share supplies. I'll post that on this blog. Let me know if you want to share an idea. I'd love to put you on the schedule.

I'll be making pretzels and raspberry cake for the potluck dinner and snack time. And I'll be sharing. :-)

Let's Have a Card Swap

Interested in a card swap? What is that, you ask? Well . . .

1. A Theme is decided upon, like Thank You Cards.
2. A Number is decided upon, like how many will be in a group, say 6 women.
3. Then each person makes 6 cards before the swap.
4. At the swap everyone trades cards.
5. You get to go home with 6 different cards. Or 5, if you don't make cards for yourself.

Alternatively, if 3 women participate . . .

1. You still make 6 cards.
2. Now you go home with 2 of each design. Unless of course, you don't make any cards for yourself.

I'd love to be part of a Thank You card swap or a Postcard swap. What about you? Leave a comment and let's get this list started.

Here's an idea. Colette is making notecards. Michelle wants to do pierced Thank You cards. Maybe you do too? Y'all could make extras and have a card swap too.

Camp is more than crafts.

There's eating, talking, watching a movie.

What about playing games? I have an Electronic Battleship game that I received as a birthday present in 1977 or so. There's Monopoly, Scrabble, Hearts. And some of you play a mean game of Spoons. And I do mean MEAN!

Maybe someone has a dart board we can hang. It's not like we can hurt the walls with the miss-thrown darts.

There's lovely grass in my backyard and I have a croquet set. 4 players are needed to mix it up on the field.

So go ahead and leave a comment as to which game you'd like to lead or participate in.

Soft Pretzels (Susan)

Ohhhhh, don't you just love the taste of hot pretzles fresh from the oven?

Wouldn't it be grand to know how to make these for home or a party? I'll be trying my hand at this with the help of a friend. Feel free to help me shape these or make your own. This "project" is my snack to share, so whether you help or not, you'll get to have one.

Ingredients needed are as follows:

1 1/2 c. warm water

1 pkg. dry yeast

4 c. flour

1 tsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 egg

1 tbsp. flour

Women's Craft Night has a date and name change.

The new and improved date is Friday, August 8.
It will be at the church from 4 pm to midnight.
This night is called Craft Night Plus or C.A.M.P.
C.A.M.P. means Cratfs and Multiple Projetcs.

You can bring your own projects to work on.
Michelle and Susan will let you know, on this blog, what they are working on in case you want to do the same things.
